We don't hide it. Every conversation opens with your business name, and the assistant never pretends to be a specific person. Most customers don't care who types the reply — they care that somebody answered in under a minute instead of sending them to voicemail. If a customer asks whether it's automated, the assistant says yes and keeps helping.
Yes — and we take it seriously, because carriers do too. TextGopher only ever texts people who contacted your business first, by calling you or submitting your form. The very first message identifies your business by name and includes opt-out instructions (“Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help”). STOP is honored instantly and permanently — that number goes on a suppression list and never gets another message unless the customer texts START. We also hold messages during quiet hours (9pm–8am in your customer's time zone) and register every number with the carriers' A2P system. Details are in our SMS Policy.
No. You keep your number and everything about how you answer it. We give you a dedicated local TextGopher number and you set up conditional call forwarding — a one-time setting on your existing line that only forwards calls you don't pick up. Calls you answer never touch TextGopher.
It hands off instead of guessing. If a customer asks something outside scheduling — a price quote, a warranty dispute, anything the assistant shouldn't answer — it tells them the owner will call shortly and pings you immediately with the full conversation. It also caps itself at a fixed number of messages per conversation, so it can never spiral.
A new customer conversation — one missed call or form submission that starts a text exchange. Repeat texts inside the same conversation don't count again, and neither does the same caller ringing twice in ten minutes. When you hit 80% of your monthly leads we warn you; at 100% we pause new conversations until your next cycle or an upgrade. We never bill overages you didn't ask for.
